Wiener Neudorf, October 4. The major automobile associations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland have awarded the Semperit SPEED-GRIP 5 a rating of “satisfactory” in their 2023 winter tire test. Besides looking at handling safety, this winter tire test was the first to assess environmental criteria too. And that was precisely where the SPEED-GRIP 5 made its mark with its excellent mileage figures.
Helped by its customary good performance on dry and wet roads, the winter specialist with dimensions of 225/45 R 17 secured one of the top spots among the 16 tires on test. As well as the main criterion of handling safety, it was the excellent environmental footprint of the SPEED-GRIP 5 that most impressed the experts thanks to the tire’s high mileage and efficiency, and low levels of wear.
Semperit focused on delivering sure-footed performance in wintry conditions in the development of the SPEED-GRIP 5. The pronounced V-shaped tread pattern with circumferential grooves in the shoulder and a system of sipes with varying angles ensures excellent grip and handling in wintry conditions. The shoulder blocks are linked to the middle of the tread to guarantee high tread stiffness. The shallower circumferential grooves in the shoulder area allow precise cornering on both dry and wet roads.
